Clean energy pitch made

“It wouldn’t do to get a lot of renewable energy and then use it inefficiently or unwisely”

It’s blowing in the wind. It’s the wave of the future. It’s in plants and fish and even garbage. via Clarion Dispatch

Scientists study Arctic haze for clues to rapid melting

“We have signatures of just about everything you can imagine flying around in the Arctic.”

Visitors to Alaska often marvel at the crisp, clear air. But the truth is, the skies above the Arctic Circle work like a giant lint trap during late winter and early spring, catching all sorts of pollutants . via The Oregonian

Spring Training Time

Now that the weather is getting nice again, maybe it’s time to get back into shape. Maybe run another marathon?

I ran the "Mayor’s Midnight Sun Marathon" in Anchorage, Alaska back in 2005 with the Atlanta "Team in Training" group. This was a great experience and I highly recommend it to anyone thinking about doing an endurance event.

Thin Ice

Thin Ice

This is Goose Lake a bit before the big snow late in the season.
Goose Lake was one of the places The Amazing Race featured on its final leg of its twelfth installment. The participants had to travel from Merrill Field to Goose Lake.

I live right around 2 miles east of both Merrill Field and Goose Lake.

The sign cautions "thin ice". I believed it on this warm day.

I guess our new Wal-Mart will make it here in Juneau!

Canada Geese and Mallards at Eagle Beach.

Not too many people on the lake anymore, since the temps have been above freezing. The snow is slowly melting. Took this picture of Mendenhall Glacier last weekend.
