Shell Near Hunting Blind

Six shell casings of the same type were found rather near the first hunting blind.

I don’t know how long these shells have been lying out on the tundra, but none of them looked to be in very bad of shape.

DENA-07-012 Flakes: Dorsal

You’d be hard-pressed to get away with labeling something like the piece on the right as having a dorsal side, but the other two seem to fit the category.

Dorsal means back, which is generally the part of the rock during flint knapping that wasn’t part of the break.
The ventral side is the area of cleavage that results from a blow that creates a new face on the rock — one you couldn’t see before the break.
